Délégation auprès de la COSAC
The Conference was founded in 1989 and to a large extent it reflects the evolution of the role of national parliaments in European integration. The main objective of the COSAC has always been to strengthen the involvement of national parliaments in European affairs and increase responsibility and democratic legitimacy in the European Union.
The role of the COSAC has been formally recognised since the entry into force of the Treaty of Amsterdam and was extended by the Treaty of Lisbon. The COSAC may make any contribution it deems appropriate for the attention of the institutions of the European Union, and examine Union legislative activities and proposals. Every six months, it organises an exchange of opinions between its members in the Member State holding the rotating presidency of the European Union.
